چکیده

Automated, image based high-content screening has become a fundamental tool for scientists to make discovery in biological science. Modern robotic fluorescence microscopes are able to capture thousands of images from massively parallel experiments such as RNA interference (RNAi). As such, efficient methods are required for automatic cellular phenotype identification capable of dealing with large image data sets. In this paper we applied the Curvelet transform for image feature description and Random Subspace ensemble (RSE) for classification. The Curvelet transform as a new multiscale directional transform allows an almost optimal nonadaptive sparse representation of objects rich with edges. The RSE contains a set of base classifiers trained using randomly drawn subsets of curvelet features. The component classifiers are then aggregated by the Majority Voting Rule. The ensemble model produces better performance compared to any of individual neural networks. It offers the classification rate 86.5% on the RNAi dataset, which compares favorably with the published result 82%, and the results on the other two sets of fluorescence microscopy images also confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Face Recognition using Common Vector based on Curvelet Transform

In this paper, a novel approach for expression invariant face recognition is proposed. It's implemented by common vector and the feature extraction is based on Curvelet transform, which is one of the multiscale geometric transforms and has better sparsity than the other transforms, especially for the edges. We assume the different images of the same subject as an interrelated ensemble with expr...

Comparison of wavelet, Gabor and curvelet transform for face recognition

There has been much research about using Gabor wavelet for face recognition. Other multiscale geometrical tools, such as curvelet and contourlet, have also been used for face recognition, thus it is interesting to know which method performs best, especially under illumination and expression changes. In this paper, we make a systematic comparison of wavelet, Gabor and curvelet for recognition, a...

Iris Recognition Using Curvelet Transform Based on Principal Component Analysis and Linear Discriminant Analysis

The iris texture curve features play an important role in iris recognition. Although better performance in terms of recognition effectiveness can be attained using the recognition approach based on the wavelet transform, the iris curve singularity cannot be sparsely represented by wavelet coefficients. In view of the better approximation accuracy and sparse representation ability of the Curvele...
